Benefits of Air Bikes
Fan Bikes provide a multitude of benefits. They are low-impact, can be a full body workout or can isolate legs or arms, and provide endless intensity.
Stationary bikes are already well known for being low-impact, but it doesn't mean low intensity. Your knees will thank you for not pounding them on a treadmill or asphalt. Low-impact is especially beneficial to those with joint problems or recovering from surgery.
A fan bike works the entire body, it engages the upper body by pumping the handles. The more of the body that is engaged therefore a greater calorie burn. Fan bikes are great for maintaining a steady cardio state or rev it up with intervals. Both of these kinds of workouts will increase calorie burn and build stamina.
The upper body can also be isolated without the use of pedaling. Feet can be placed on the foot pegs and rock out a hardcore arm session. Most handles have different spots for hand locations to work different muscles.
The endless intensity comes from the unlimited wind resistance. This means the faster you pedal the more intense the resistance is against you. In essence you are the motor and constantly changing resistance at any time during your workout.

Being in the correct position allows for proper knee placement for effective driving down of the pedal and pulling up. The pedals of stationary fan bikes normally have a cage for toes, so not to slip while pedaling.
What is the difference between Belt vs Chain Drive ?
Stationary exercise bikes can either have a belt or chain driven drive which moves the fan to create resistance for the air bike.
A chain-drive is similar to an outdoor bicycle which has a chain and moves the wheels forward from power of pushing the pedals. A stationary fan exercise bike is the same except it rotates the fan blades giving it resistance. A two-power transfer system converts the energy from one belt to another, thus losing power in the procedure. A chain-drive tends to be loud with all the clunking of the chain and teeth meeting.
A belt-drive works similar to a treadmill except on a smaller scale. This kind of drive directly responds to the users power, thus making a more efficient workout where momentum is not lost. A belt-drive provides a smoother and quieter workout which the chain-drive cannot execute.

The Octane AirdyneX Fan Bike has 27" fan with 26 blades, which provides more air resistance for pedaling making it harder to cut through the air.
